Overview

From a product designer standpoint the simple hairdryer gives us unique opportunity to show our styling skills. Most hairdryers share the same internal specification heating element fan motor Switch cable. The designer has a chance to give his interpretation of the product.

The brief -

Designed a low-cost stylish product that had high-quality look and feel.

Key insights -

We wanted the form to be powerful yet simple and elegant, each part seamlessly blends into the next. At the time we designed this product most hairdryers were simple tubes joined together with filleted radius.

This product is nearly 30 years old but still retains all of the styling aspirations we had. It's still available and with even seen it in hotels in a fixed to the wall configuration.
